Erik J. Nielsen, D.D.S., M.D. joined our practice in July 2019 after completing his oral and maxillofacial surgery residency at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Dr. Nielsen is originally from Escondido, California. He attended Palomar Junior College and played football before serving a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Washington DC. Following his mission, he attended Brigham Young University, received his BS in Exercise Science, and then received his Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of Oklahoma College of Dentistry. Dr. Nielsen graduated from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in 2016 and completed a general surgery internship before embarking on his Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery training there.

Dr. Nielsen and his wife, Mirjam, have four children. They enjoy family road trips, hiking, fly fishing, and camping. They have deep family ties to Southern Utah and were excited to make St. George home. They love this great area and enjoy serving the people of this community.

Dr. Nielsen is now a partner of Southwest Oral Facial & Implant Surgery as of June 2022. We are so delighted to have him on board.
